RICHINGS PARK RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION

Minutes of the meeting held on Monday 25th July  2005

                                                        At Richings Park Sports Club

PRESENT:  Alan Oxley, Alan Barrett,  Margaret Wilkins, Brian Phillips, Graham Young, David Coppen, Maureen Atkinson, Daphne Wood.

APOLOGIES:  Wendy Morris, Tony Connolly, Maureen Worrall, Matthew McEvoy.

ABSENT:           Susie Davies, Paul Lake.

MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING:  were agreed and signed.

MATTERS ARISING:

Roadworks North Park – The two major sections had been repaired and re-surfaced at either end.  The patching works would follow shortly.

Speed Checks – Daphne had a less than satisfactory call-back from P.C.Jones of Taplow Traffic Police.  He did not consider we had a speeding problem, said we didn’t meet the criteria for speed cameras, he couldn’t see a suitable place to site a mobile camera in any case, and he considered we should go back to County for further suggestions as they had provided the current width restrictors.

HGVs –Since reporting the application from Yamato for 15 vehicles and 5 trailers, Daphne had seen Licence applications for a total of 38 HGVs and 26 trailers over a 10 day period, and she had written to various bodies to complain, with little response.  We cannot by law object to the Traffic Commissioner at Cambridge, on the grounds that we are not abutting the land  from which the HGVs are operating.  Cappagh are still operating illegally out of Thorney Business Park. Alan would pursue again with Gareth Noble, the local Planning Enforcement Officer.

Website – Graham has researched similar websites for Residents Associations and he will phone Heather Harper to discuss provider.  He needs content in the form of electronic minutes, plans, back history etc. to get it established.                                                                       GY/AO/DMW

Kerbing, Somerset Way – There is a Parish fund of £150,000 to spend on such schemes, and Alan O. suggested we submit Somerset Way for consideration.                                                  AO

Verge-Cutting – Alan O. went with County reps. To inspect verges and footpaths.  There were still problems with Bardons – some employees on strike, three had been sacked.  Hydrex were seeking planning permission to use some of Bardons land for training.

Cornerstone – Graham was concerned at their request to use the Residents Garden being turned down because of insurance.  We could go through the  Parish Council for public liability insurance or the Countryside Commission where we’d make a statement of dedication to public use which absolves us of responsibility.  He will explore further and get forms and insurance options.    GY

RAILWAY STATION LAND

Discussion has already taken place at previous meetings to see if the Residents Association could acquire ownership of this land.  Alan Oxley has been in touch with Hine & Associates, solicitors,

Who confirmed that the land is unregistered at the moment,  It was agreed that  Hine & Associates of 17 East Common, Gerrards Cross, SL9 7AG.be appointed  to act for the Association in this matter, and Alan Oxley has written to them with a cheque for £200 to cover their initial costs.

The Land Registry fee of £100 would be refundable if our application is not successful.

It was agreed unanimously that the Richings Park Residents Association appoint Michael  Crowther of 17 Wellesley Avenue, Iver. SL0 9BW and Margaret Daisy Bowers of 31 Syke Ings, Iver. SL0 9ER. To act as Trustees on behalf of  the association in the matter of registering the land alongside

Iver station.

IMPROVING IVER RAILWAY STATION

Stephen Lewis, Group Station Manager for Iver Station (based at Paddington Tel. 07736 087715) has a fund for local Residents Associations to improve their stations.  It is suggested we appoint a sub-committee comprising of Wendy Morris, Margaret  Wilkins, Matthew McEvoy, Graham Young and residents Michael Braganza of 19  Bathurst Walk and Mukhtar Ali of 17 Bathurst Walk.  Their aim would be to provide a list of potential improvements prioritised for Stephen Lewis to cost.  He is happy to meet on site and would come to the next meeting with a costed list.  Margaret will contact Matthew to arrange a meeting.                                                                         MW/MM

A.0.B.

David – referred to the Sustainability Assessment Consultation which he had completed with difficulty .

The Poplars Riding Stables were accommodating an illegal car repair works, with 3 portacabins installed.  Alan Oxley has referred the matter to the Enforcement Officer.

Alan B – expressed again his disappointment that the heron had been moved from Thorney Park in favour of Denham Country Park.  The park should be advertised with a sign near the road, and people encouraged to use it more.  It is going to waste.
