RICHINGS PARK RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION

Minutes of the meeting held on Wednesday, 22nd March 2006

At 28 Syke Cluan, Richings Park, Iver

PRESENT:  Alan Oxley, Daphne Wood, Matthew McEvoy, Brian Phillips, David Coppen, Margaret Wilkins, Alan Barrett, Paul Lake, Joyce Young.

APOLOGIES:  Maureen Worrall, Maureen Atkinson, Wendy Morris, Graham Young, Tony Connolly, Susie Davies.

LIBRARY QUESTIONNAIRE:

Joyce Young presented an analysed summary of the responses so far.  These had produced 40 potential volunteers, a lot of offers of financial contributions, including a possible generous donation from Iver and Langley Rotary Club, to which Alan would respond.                                                                 A.O.

A working group will accumulate the final information and discuss possible solutions, such as linking in with Cornerstone.  The Parish Council is not prepared to provide long term funding.

Joyce was thanked for her efforts so far, and for coming to the meeting.

MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING: were agreed and signed.

MATTERS ARISING:

Railway land – Alan has had the statutory declaration signed by Mick Crowther.  Helen Whitely from Hines Associates doubts if we will get adverse possession, however it is suggested we put up notices stating the land belongs to R.P.R.A. and residents can use it at their own risk.

North Park pavements and gutters – Daphne had received an e-mail from Eric Redford at S.B.D.C. to say that Peter Blackbee (inspector) would visit the area w/c 28th March to review and take photographs.  BIFFA would attend w/c 3rd April to clean to his satisfaction before he took photos again.  This is involving a one-off diversion of the mechanical sweeper for the gutters, and a manual clean of the worst areas of pavement, which Daphne was asked to identify in case the inspector couldn’t find them!

106 THORNEY MILL ROAD:

Alan O. confirmed that Kingfisher Gardens would be opened by the Chairman of S.B.D.C. at 2 p.m. on Sunday, 2nd April.  Councillors and all bodies involved in the project have been invited.  The garden needs to be tidied up and Paul offered to liaise with Alan B. to get someone organised.  Heather Harper is supplying a marquee and snack food and drinks are coming out of a community fund.  Alan O. has ordered a plaque with Kingfisher Gardens on it, and needs another one with names of sponsors.

A.O.B.:

Alan O. has had a letter from the Parish Council regarding the street lighting on the corner of Old Slade Lane and The Poynings.  They are having a problem getting access as garden rubbish from the Caisleys is in the way, and would cost £200 to move.  Alan will speak to P.C.                                 A.O.

David – queried how many semi-detached houses were being built in North Park.  He reported that Colin Rayner of Horton is re-landscaping fields between Richings Park and the M4.

Brian – commented on the double rows of traffic monitoring lines on the road near the speed camera in Thorney Lane North.

Paul – asked why Wellesley Avenue had been given priority over Richings Way for pavement replacement.  Alan O. explained that it was equated with frequency of use.  He asked Alan O. to investigate the garage at No.7 Richings Way which was the subject of a planning appeal.             A.O.

Matthew – commented on the re-instatement of width restrictor in Swan Road.  He had learned from a BBC Website that Iver Station was on a list of the most dilapidated railway stations in the country.  He had e-mailed Great Western, who blamed Network Rail.  Another timetable was being drafted for December 2006 and there will be extra trains to Slough in rush hour.

Daphne – had been asked by a resident to establish where our Council Tax contribution to the Parish Council was being used.  This is for an extra Police Community Support Officer, a Youth Worker and a maintenance person.

Margaret – commented on scaffolding at 18 Bathurst Walk.  It would appear to be for roofing repairs, though they do have a planning application in for 2/s rear extension and replacement detached garage.

Alan B – reported on Bardons emissions getting out of control, and as a result of Environmental Health being called, Gareth Noble shut them down until they could improve matters.  The problem was intermittent making monitoring difficult.  Gareth Noble has also written to Hillingdon Borough Council regarding dust from Hydrex.

The meeting closed at 10.30 p.m. and Alan was thanked for his hospitality.
