of the meeting held on Tuesday, 29th March 2005
At
PRESENT: Alan Oxley, Daphne Wood, Tony Connolly, Susie Davies, Pene Hamilton, Brian Phillips, David Coppen, Wendy Morris.
APOLOGIES were received from Maureen Worrall, Margaret Wilkins.
ABSENT:
MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING: were agreed and signed.
MATTERS ARISING:
Graffiti – Carole Bennett had sent Daphne an e-mail outlining the problems with organising the removal, blaming limited resources and budget, again suggesting that volunteers as opposed to SBDC staff could help even more, even though Daphne had spent hours listing it all. To date no graffiti has been removed.
T.P.O. tree on Donald King land – it is now looking healthier despite earlier fears.
Potholes and sunken drains in North Park –
Despite Highways on Call assurances that the road would take high priority in
2005/06, Tony Connolly has now had a letter from County saying that because of a 50%
reduction in budget, the

N.B. Old Slade Farm – After Gill Dutfield obtaining permission to refurbish old farmhouse, it has now mysteriously become unstable and is now having to be demolished.
The corner (quilting) shop is apparently changing hands and being taken over by a church organisation.

Daphne invited Peter Blackbee (our local Highways Inspector) to see the litter strewn around, which Biffa litter pickers are failing to pick up on a weekly basis, as they are contracted and paid to do.
Susie reported she was now in possession of both glass and paper re-cycling bins, after a hard struggle with SBDC. Her car window was vandalised recently but luckily nothing stolen from inside.
Wendy asked the committee for any expenses incurred to be submitted to her a.s.a.p
She asked for an up-date on the progress at 106 Thorney Mill Road.
She reported that the train angels had started operating, which would be a comfort for lone passengers.
The work being undertaken by Durkin in Old Slade Lane was related to the new sewage works, and concern was raised as to what would happen to the treated sewage as under new regulations it can no longer be distributed on open fields.
The meeting closed at 9.30p.m.
