APOLOGIES   were received from Maureen Worrall, Margaret Wilkins.

ABSENT:  Paul Lake,  Matthew McEvoy, Alan Barrett, Graham Young.

MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING:   were agreed and signed.

MATTERS ARISING:

Graffiti – Carole Bennett had sent Daphne an e-mail outlining the problems with organising the removal, blaming limited resources  and budget, again suggesting that volunteers as opposed to SBDC staff could help even more, even though Daphne had spent hours listing it all.  To date no graffiti has been removed.

T.P.O. tree on Donald King land – it is now looking healthier despite earlier fears.

Potholes and sunken drains in North Park – Despite Highways on Call assurances that the road would take high priority in 2005/06, Tony Connolly has now had a letter from  County saying that because of a 50% reduction in budget, the North Park road works would be postponed indefinitely.  Tony has also not had a satisfactory solution to the loose drain outside his house despite numerous reports to Highways on Call by him and by Daphne.  It was suggested that as many residents as possible lobby County on these matters to prompt them into action, as it cannot continue like this.

Daphne invited Peter Blackbee (our local Highways Inspector) to see the litter strewn around, which Biffa litter pickers are failing to pick up on a weekly basis, as they are contracted  and paid to do.

Susie reported she was now in possession of both glass and paper re-cycling bins, after a hard struggle with  SBDC.  Her car window was vandalised recently but luckily nothing stolen from inside.

Wendy asked the committee for any expenses incurred to be submitted to her a.s.a.p

She asked for an up-date on the progress at 106 Thorney Mill Road.

She reported that the train angels had started operating, which would be a comfort for lone passengers.

The work being undertaken by Durkin in Old Slade Lane was related to the new sewage works,  and concern was raised as to what would happen to the treated sewage as under new regulations it can no longer be distributed on open fields.

The meeting closed at 9.30p.m.
