Thorney Lake infill proposal

On 5 March 2018, Bucks CC Cabinet approved a proposal to reshape the future of Thorney Park (minutes) and create a new self-sustaining park - this would include partial infill of the lake by importing soil by rail (link to further details). Since then, Heathrow has identified Thorney Lake as a potential flood control site, which conflicts with the council's proposal by removing soil (by HGV) to expand the lake's flood control zone. No one is clear on how this conflict will be resolved, but Heathrow's proposal will be reviewed by the authorities as part of its overall Development Consent Order for airport expansion.
