Update from our local councillors on the new Buckinghamshire Council
The new Council will come into effect on 1st April as planned and the existing District and County Councils will cease to exist on 31st March.
The government has postponed the elections until 6th May 2021 and therefore we, your existing councillors, will remain in post to serve you over the coming year. We will all be representing the entire ward of Iver Heath, Iver Village and Richings Park and Thorney. Residents in Shredding Green, Wood Lane, Langley Park Road and Mansion Lane will be represented by Councillors from the Stoke Poges and Wexham ward.
20 March 2020
The new unitary council will come into legal existance on 11 May 2020. There will be not be any elections - these have been postposed due to the situation with the corona virus. Existing councillors will be tranferred to the new unitary council. We can expect some disruption to council services as they settle into the new arrangement in the midst of the corona virus difficulties.
29 January 2020
From 1 April 2020, a single new Buckinghamshire Council will replace:
Aylesbury Vale District Council
Buckinghamshire County Council
Chiltern District Council
South Bucks District Council
Wycombe District Council
This will mean that South Bucks District Council will be dissolved and its responsibilities transferred to the new Bucks Council, which is scheduled to be running in May 2020 with elections for its councillors in April 2020. Further details can be found here.
